The first step we do in Shredded Academy is calculate each client's TDEE (total daily energy expenditure), which is determined from the information provided after joining our program.
This is why our clients get EXACTLY number of calories required to achieve their goals. We also include the correct macronutrient breakdown of protein, carbohydrates for every meal.
Every single Shredded Academy client answers key questions which allows us to calculate each client’s TDEE. (we use a very unique formula created at SA, and we believe it to be the most accurate in estimating someone's TDEE.)
After a client’s estimated TDEE is calculated, we then build a full meal plan where their caloric intake is in a deficit (-500 below TDEE) or in a surplus (+500 above TDEE). Ultimately, this is dependent on each of our client’s goals, whether they want to gain mass and build muscle or cut down and get shredded. Once the number of calories are calculated (which is personalized to each and every client), they are then split into the exact macronutrient breakdown of protein, carbohydrates and fats.
Here is our Shredded Academy macronutrient guideline we follow:
1g of protein per pound of LEAN bodyweight (i.e. if you are 215lbs with 20% body fat your LBW = 172lbs). Therefore, you will require 172g of protein or more.
0.4g+ of fat per pound of LEAN bodyweight. Contrary to popular belief, fat is essential for the human body. I'ts great for brain function, helps reduce inflammation, reduces stresss, and hormone regulation, such as testosterone production and more.
Sometimes you will have left over calories, which we fill up with mostly carbohydrates and some extra protein and fat. Fats and Proteins are vital and needed by the human body. On the contrary, carbohydrates are not essential to the human body, however since carbs are the body’s first source of energy, the remaining calories are made up of carbohydrates after our client’s protein and fat minimum requirements are met. Bonus info! Carbs are fantastic for your T3 hormones and leptin which are the best of the best of all your fat burning hormones!
